Stormwater Drainage Design, Dudley, MA
HRP performed stormwater drainage design at an existing courthouse. The site had experienced flooding due to an undersized stormwater conveyance system. We surveyed the existing drainage network and developed a plan to retain and infiltrate stormwater from the site. After we modeled the site drainage network to analyze for capacity analysis and surcharging, we developed project plans for site improvements that included stormwater retention via underground storage and a new stormwater retention pond, as well as a larger outlet pipe for the drainage system.
We supervised the closed-circuit television inspection of the drainage network performed by New England Pipe Cleaning Company. During the design process, we obtained local wetlands approval for the new stormwater retention pond. The approval included submitting an application to the Town of Dudley Conservation Commission and attending a Commission meeting in support of the project.
We assisted with the bidding of the construction project and prepared plans and specifications as well as provided assistance with the selection of contractors. Our responsibilities during construction included construction layout, review of shop drawings, construction inspection, and review of contractor invoices. Additionally, we coordinated and supervised the as-built survey of the drainage improvements.
