HRP Associates Inc. (HRP), an environmental engineering and hydrogeology firm in Farmington, announces the addition of Chris N. as a Field Technician.

“HRP is pleased to welcome Chris to our Field Technical Services team,” said Christopher Labbe, Director of Field Technical Services. “With a strong academic background in Environmental Science and Biology from St. Lawrence University, hands-on experience in water testing and soil health management, and a passion for environmental stewardship, Chris brings a solid foundation to support our hydrogeologic investigations, soil management programs, and air monitoring projects. We are excited to have Chris join our team.”

In this role, Chris will support groundwater monitoring, soil and air sampling efforts, remediation system operation and maintenance (O&M), and hazardous materials projects. His contributions will help advance a wide range of environmental investigation and remediation initiatives across HRP’s client portfolio.

“I am excited to work at HRP for the opportunity to not only work outdoors, but also to help make the surrounding environment healthier for future generations,” said Chris. “I look forward to contributing to projects that have a positive, lasting impact on the communities and natural resources we serve.”

In this role, Ashley will support field investigations, conceptual site model (CSM) development, and remediation projects across a variety of environmental programs..

“I am very excited to begin my career at HRP,” said Ashley. “After spending two years on the regulatory side of the industry, I am eager to gain field experience, learn from seasoned environmental professionals, and contribute to a team that is passionate about improving the quality of our environment.”

Bring Your Child to Work Day at HRP

At HRP, family is part of the culture. That’s one reason Bring Your Child to Work Day has become more than a day for employees to bring their children to the office. Over the years, it has evolved into an annual HRP event designed to give kids a glimpse into what their parents do, introduce them to the many disciplines that make up the company, and, most importantly, have some fun.

The idea started with CFO Joe Cardinale.

“At the time, I had a kid the right age who was bored at home, and I was seeing other companies do it, and thought HRP should too. We’re a family-oriented type of company, and it fits into who we are. As we grow, it can be harder to keep that family culture, so this event is a great idea.”

Today, Samantha Plude, Office Administrator, is the unofficial organizer of the event. What began as a relatively unstructured day has become a planned program of STEAM activities—science, technology, engineering, art, and math—designed around a different theme each year.

“We begin with a theme (typically based on a new movie or something trending). Then, we come up with four or five themed 30- to 60-minute activities for children encompassing all aspects of STEAM,” Samantha says.

The activities have covered plenty of ground over the years. Kids have built habitats for gummy worms, made popsicle-stick boats to learn about buoyancy, created model core samples with colored sand, and hunted for “emeralds” as part of a Minecraft-themed scavenger hunt. Volunteers from across HRP have also developed activities that introduce children to the work their parents do—from geology and engineering to IT, environmental services, and health and safety.

The day has come a long way from simply bringing a child to the office and hoping they stay occupied. Samantha remembers her own childhood Bring Your Child to Work Days, when she would spend the day shadowing her mother. When she first brought her daughter to HRP, the experience was less structured. Eventually, Samantha and another colleague gathered the children together with art supplies, fidgets, and a movie.

“From that point on, I made it my mission to revamp the Event into something fun and educational for the children,” says Samantha.

Now, the day is built entirely around the kids—and giving them a better understanding of the people they know as Mom and Dad.

In our coverage of these events over the years, HRP has always asked the important question: What does your parent do at HRP? The answers range from “I don’t know” to “they work on a computer” to “she works at industrial water sites.”

The hope is that those answers become a little more informed—and that the experience gives children a glimpse of the possibilities that exist within the working world.

“My hope is that the children leave each summer feeling a little closer to their parents, excitedly talking about all the new friends they’ve made, the things they’ve learned, maybe a bit closure to knowing what they want to do when they grow up,” Samantha says.

“HRP is pleased to welcome Sean as Director of Operations for our Massachusetts Site Assessment and Remediation team,” said Bryan Massa, Regional Manager. “With over 20 years of hands-on experience in complex environmental remediation, regulatory compliance, and brownfields redevelopment, Sean brings a strong foundation to support our ongoing site assessment and remediation projects. We are excited to have him join our team!”

Sean will support both regional and companywide marketing initiatives related to environmental site assessment and remediation services, while helping to expand HRP’s footprint in Massachusetts. He will also serve as a Licensed Site Professional (LSP), overseeing waste site cleanups, mentoring junior staff, and contributing to the development and execution of key strategic and operational plans for the Massachusetts region.

“I am excited to join the leadership team and look forward to collaborating with the diverse group of talented environmental, engineering, and compliance professionals on operations and large-scale remedial projects,” said Sean. “I look forward to contributing to HRP’s continued success while supporting complex projects and fostering strong collaboration across our teams.”

Madelyn will be responsible for environmental sampling, data analysis, and preparing technical reports.

Two Days. Two Causes. One HRP Tradition: HRP's Clays Events Return for 2026

At HRP, philanthropy is woven into our culture. Our mantra—Work hard. Play hard. Give back.—shows up in the way we approach our projects, support our communities, and invest in causes that matter to our employees, clients, and friends.

This September, that commitment continues with two events that have become annual traditions: the 4th Annual Clays 4 Kids in Connecticut and the 6th Annual Clays 4 Cancer in South Carolina. Different causes. Different communities. One shared purpose: bringing people together to make a difference.

"Our Clays events are a testament to HRP's dedication to giving back," says CEO Dan Titus. "It's a day where our company's mantra, Work hard. Play hard. Give back., is brought to life in a powerful way."

The Connecticut office will kick things off on Wednesday, September 9, hosting Clays 4 Kids at East Glastonbury Fish & Game in Marlborough. Clays 4 Kids grew from HRP's commitment to supporting organizations that introduce young people to STEM and help them discover where those interests can lead. The event raises money for programs that provide mentorship, hands-on learning, and educational opportunities for students who may one day pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics. It's one more way HRP can support the communities where we live and work while helping organizations that are creating opportunities for the next generation.

“Every year, Clays 4 Kids reminds me how fortunate we are to work with people who care deeply about their communities and help to inspire the next generation of environmental professionals and engineers,” says Principal & Regional Manager Jason Beach. “It’s a chance to spend time outdoors with friends and colleagues, have some fun, and raise money for programs that help young people discover their potential through STEM.”

A few weeks later, on Thursday, September 24, HRP's South Carolina team will host the 6th Annual Clays 4 Cancer at the Clinton House Plantation. What started as an idea after the pandemic has grown into one of HRP's signature philanthropic events, benefiting the American Cancer Society's Men Wear Pink campaign in Upstate South Carolina.

“Coming out of the pandemic, we were kicking around the idea of hosting an annual event that we could build upon each year. Our male staff were routinely participating in October’s Men Wear Pink campaign benefiting the American Cancer Society. With the notion that sporting clay events are the new golf tournament, Clays 4 Cancer was born from the idea that HRP could host an annual event supporting the Men Wear Pink campaign by attracting the participation of companies, individuals, and families from all dimensions of the South Carolina business community,” says Shaun Malin, Regional Manager at HRP.

Every registration, sponsorship, and donation helps support the American Cancer Society's work, from funding breast cancer research to providing patient support and resources for families. Over the past six years, the event has also become a gathering place for people throughout the business community. During lunch, conversations often turn to the people participants are shooting for—the family members, friends, coworkers, and survivors who give the day its purpose.

"The combination of fun and philanthropy and everyone coming together for one cause is just a magical thing," says Shaun.

That sense of purpose carries well beyond these two events. HRP encourages employees to volunteer, support local organizations, and give their time to causes that matter. It's part of the company's culture and one of the reasons events like these continue to grow each year.

"At HRP, we're encouraged to put hours toward philanthropic and community events," says Shaun. "I don't think there are a lot of companies out there that do that."

As HRP prepares for another September of friendly competition and fundraising, we're grateful to every client, sponsor, volunteer, and participant who continues to support Clays 4 Kids and Clays 4 Cancer. We look forward to seeing familiar faces, meeting new ones, and spending another two days doing what HRP has always believed in—working hard, playing hard, and giving back.

“HRP is pleased to welcome Anna O’Flaherty, EIT to our Greenville, SC office as an Associate Consultant in the EHS&S and Environmental practices,” said Jason Davis, Senior Project Manager.

"Anna is a recent graduate of Clemson University’s Environmental Engineering program. During her time at Clemson, she worked as an undergraduate research assistant and also spent two summers interning with a Savannah River Nuclear Plant consultant where she assisted with Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) and National Emission Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants (NESHAP) projects. She was also a Drum Major with the Clemson University Tiger Band where she led over 300 members.”

Anna will be responsible for assisting with both EHS&S and Environmental projects, acting as a client and regulatory liaison, and preparing technical reports.

“I’m excited to work at HRP,” said Anna. “I have always been passionate about taking care of our environment, and I’m excited to bring that passion into my career at HRP. With my experience in industrial environmental compliance, I am eager to learn more about the consulting world.”
