Course Information

Course Overview

OSHA’s Respiratory Protection Standard is intended to protect health of employees from insufficient oxygen environments, harmful dusts, fogs, fumes, mists, gases, smoke, sprays and vapors. Respirators protect the user by either removing the contaminants from the air or supplying clean respirable air from other sources. For respirators to properly protect the user, they must be properly selected, fit tested and maintained. In addition medical evaluation and training of the user ensures proper protection from airborne hazards. All of these elements are to be documented with an employer's written respiratory protection program.

The purpose of this training is to provide the general information needed to reinforce and/or develop a respiratory protection program at your location. As such, to be compliant with the standard, if you wear a respirator, additional specific training must be provided by your employer.
