Description
HRP was retained to scope, design, spec, bid, and permit a fluoride wastewater treatment system for the wastewater streams associated with the etching operations for one of the major healthcare manufacturing facilities in NY. The etching operations involved several hazardous high concentrations of fluoride streams and sulfuric acid. HRP’s review determined that the facility was required to meet the local regulatory Effluent Guideline of 10 ppm associated with the fluoride wastewater. Therefore, in order to meet these standards, HRP worked with a multi-disciplinary team of facility members, sub-consultants, and contractors to:
- Evaluate the etching process and its chemistry
- Characterize the process effluents and specific discharge concentrations
- Conceptualize and scope several treatment methods for client’s consideration and approval
- Design and developed bid specification for the recommended option
- Developed detailed engineering specifications for the project:
- Design Basis
- Process Flow Diagrams
- Process & Instrumentation Diagram
- Mass Balance
- Equipment Spec Sheets
- Construction Drawings
- Operation and Maintenance Manual
- Obtain required permits and revised facility environmental program to include the system
With HRP’s assistance the project was on budget, on schedule, and completed without any regulatory delays or compliance issues.
